About Me

Hi there! I’m Braelynn Hicks. A lifelong lover of classic literature, quiet stories, and the kind of books that stay with us long after we’ve turned the final page.

I created Little Colonel as a space to revisit and reflect on the novels that shaped our childhoods, challenged our character, and stirred our imaginations.

Why This Site

I started Little Colonel because I felt a gap: in an age of fast reading and ephemeral trends, fewer voices slow down to explore stories with depth-stories that aren’t just entertainment but invitations to think, feel, and grow.

Here, I read slowly. I reflect deeply. I believe the “right book” can change how we see ourselves and the world.

What I Write About

On Little Colonel, you’ll find reflections on timeless novels – their themes, moral lessons, and emotional resonance. I write with the conviction that stories matter: they carry wisdom about humanity, compassion, identity, and legacy.

Whether it’s a young‑hero tale of resilience or a quiet exploration of family and memory, I aim to dig beneath the surface and linger on the heart of the story.

My Promise

When you read here, you’re reading with someone who:

  • values depth over speed – I’ll skim nothing and skip no meaningful moment.
  • trusts that literature still holds moral and emotional relevance even today.
  • invites you into conversation, not lecture: your insights matter.
  • remains grounded in honesty – I say what I feel the story does, what it misses, what it gives.

Let’s Go Together

Whether you’re revisiting a favorite childhood novel or discovering one you somehow missed, I hope Little Colonel becomes a companion in your reading life. A place to pause, ponder, and be changed. I invite you to join me in this slow, thoughtful journey through books that matter.

If you’d like to connect, share a book suggestion, or ask a question – drop me a line at marketing@littlecolonel.com. I’d love to hear your reading stories.
