Editorial Policy

Hi, I’m Braelynn Hicks, the writer and curator behind Little Colonel. This space is deeply personal to me-a quiet corner of the internet where I reflect on the classic literature that has shaped hearts, minds, and imaginations for generations.

Every word I write is with care, reverence, and a strong sense of purpose: to honor the stories that still speak to us, and to make space for thoughtful reflection in a noisy world.

Here’s how I approach writing, research, and content on Little Colonel:

1. Purpose and Intent

The heart of Little Colonel is timeless literature. I write about books not just for their plots, but for their enduring themes, moral lessons, and emotional resonance. My goal is to encourage deeper reading, personal growth, and meaningful connection through stories that matter.

2. Original and Thoughtful Content

All content on this site is written by me, in my own voice, and based on my personal reading and reflections. I do not publish AI-generated content or accept guest posts written by third parties.

Every article is the product of slow reading, critical thinking, and an honest response to the work.

3. Research and Accuracy

While much of what I write is personal and reflective, I take accuracy seriously-especially when discussing historical context, author backgrounds, or literary movements.

I cross-reference trusted sources (like academic texts, author interviews, and archival materials) whenever I include factual information. If I ever get something wrong, I will update and correct it transparently.

4. Authenticity and Integrity

I’m not here to chase trends or write clickbait. I only cover books and topics that align with the values of Little Colonel-stories with emotional depth, moral clarity, and lasting beauty.

I write because I care deeply about literature’s power to shape character and thought, not for page views.

5. Respect for the Reader

I believe reading is a sacred act, and I treat my readers with the same respect I extend to the books I write about.

I aim to create a quiet, honest, and enriching space for anyone who loves classic stories or is simply looking for something meaningful to read and reflect on.

6. Plagiarism and Attribution

Every sentence on this site is my own, unless I’m quoting directly from a book or another source-those are always clearly cited. I have zero tolerance for plagiarism, and I expect the same from anyone who shares or references my work.

7. Corrections and Updates

If a reader points out an error-factual, grammatical, or interpretive-I’m always open to thoughtful feedback. I believe good writing is a conversation, and part of that means being willing to listen and revise when needed.

Updates will be noted directly in the post or added as a correction.

8. Editorial Independence

Little Colonel is fully independent. I don’t accept sponsorships or paid placements.

If I ever link to or mention a product, book edition, or outside resource, it’s because I’ve personally used it and believe it adds value to the reading experience-not because I was paid to do so.
